Further information

* On april 2005 and on june 2006, the spanish publishing house "Editorial Alpina" published the three hiking maps 1: 25.000.  which are very accurate: "Tramuntana Sud" (from Sa Dragonera to Esporles, which includes Andratx, Estellencs, Banyalbufar and Puigpunyent), "Tramuntana Central"(from Esporles to the Cúber reservoir, which also includes Deià, Sóller, Bunyola and Alaró) and "Tramuntana Nord" (from Fornalutx to Pollença, which also includes the reservoirs, Sa Calobra, Campanet, Lluc). The maps come with an english booklet in which several hiking routes are described.  The second edition of T. North was published on september 2009 and the second of T. Central on february 2010

* The prolific autor of hiking books Paddy Dillon has written:

"The Alpina maps are excellent, and much easier to use than the IGN maps. I can see all sorts of interesting trails on the Alpina map, but only blank spaces on the IGN. I will always recommend the Alpina maps to anyone going walking in Mallorca. You have done a very good job with them"

* We will try to correct them with your help. If you find any mistake, please

* The map of Tramuntana Sud is very accurate: the autor spent many days doing reconnaissance work with a GPS

* Page 77, hike 5: the gate at km. 98.2 is locked and the sign "Prohibido el paso" has appeared. It is teoretically possible to skip this closure from the parking at "mirador Ricard Roca".

* Page 81, hike 11: on mai 2008 the short trail between Sa Volta des General and Cala Banyalbufar has been closed.

* Page 81, hike 12: on october 2007, a heavy rainfall has badly eroded the fishers' trail (Camí des Pescadors)  on the way down to Port des Canonge.

→ Corrections Tramuntana Central- first edition (since february 2010 a second edition is available which has taken into account these changes and mistakes)

Corrections of the first edition

           * Page 127 (51), Hike 2: at the end of the street "Carrer de les Oliveres" the earth track is blocked by a closed gate. The footpath is on the left of the fence.

          * Page 136 (60), Hike 10: on the ascent to the Puig de l'Ofre you need just 10 minutes from the pass Coll de l'Ofre to the place where you leave the earth track und turn to the left towards the summit. Some signs: "Prohibido el paso- Caza mayor" (No trespassing- Big game) have appeared on the downhill trail. They intend to avoid problems between goats' hunters and hikers.

*Map, around Valldemossa: the footpath from the road Valldemossa - Deià to S'Estaca doesn´t start in the Km. 69. It starts 400 meters from Rest. Can Costa (dir. Deià). The mistake was made by the IGN, the source of the maps and wasn't detected by the Alpina team.

               * Map, around Valldemossa: the viewpoint "Mirador de ses Basses" is located more to the west

               * Map, around Bunyola: the footpath to the pass between Puig de Son Nassi and Puig de s'Alqueria doesn't start in Son Nassi Nou. The trailhead begins to the north of Son Nassi Vell.

                * Map, around Comuna de Bunyola: the footpath from Comuna de Bunyola downhill to Torrent de Coanegra (Son Pou) starts 5 minutes farther to the north of the pass 656 m . The footpath from the upper earth track (Penyals d'Honor) to the pass Coll des Picó finishes more to the right (east), at least 8 minutes from the pass. There isn't an earth track from Coll des Picó to the Coll d'Honor, but a footpath. The trail reaches the top of Penyals d'Honor at the peak of 808 m. of altitude

                   * Map, around Puig de Bàlitx: the footpath to the top begins 5 minutes after the end of the earth track (on a right bend) and goes by the cave "Cova des Migdia" which isn't good marked on the map. The true coordinates are X= 475985, Y=4406921 (European Datum 1950)

→ Corrections Tramuntana North/ Nord -first edition (since september 2009, a second edition is available which has taken into account these changes and mistakes)
